Nuvi

Privacy Policy

Last updated:

This policy explains what the Nuvi app for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch does with your data. Nuvi is published by Ege Beşe, an individual developer ("we", "us"). You can reach us at support@ege.md.

In short

  • There is no account. We do not ask for your name, email or phone number. The app signs in anonymously with a random identifier.
  • Your audio is uploaded only to be transcribed. It is deleted from the server as soon as the transcript is returned.
  • Transcription and summaries run on AI servers we operate ourselves. Your audio and transcripts are not sent to a third-party AI provider.
  • Transcripts and summaries are not kept on our servers. Your notes live on your device and, if you use iCloud, in your own private iCloud, which we cannot read.
  • Voiceprints used to recognise speakers stay on your device only.
  • No ads, no ad tracking, and we do not sell your data.
  • "Delete all data" in Settings removes everything: on the device, in iCloud and on our servers.

Who is responsible

Nuvi is published by Ege Beşe, an individual developer, who decides how the data described here is used. For any privacy question or request, write to support@ege.md.

No account, anonymous sign-in

When you first open Nuvi, it signs in anonymously in the background using Firebase Anonymous Authentication. This creates a random identifier for your installation. It is not connected to your name, email address or Apple Account. We use it to know which usage allowance and which subscription belong to which installation.

Your audio

  • Audio you record or import is uploaded over an encrypted connection (TLS) to Google Cloud Storage in the EU (region europe-west1). It is uploaded only so that it can be transcribed.
  • From there it is sent to speech and language models that run on servers we operate ourselves. It is not sent to a third-party AI provider.
  • The uploaded audio is deleted as soon as the transcript has been returned. As a safety net, a storage rule automatically deletes any upload that is still there after one day, for example if a transcription was interrupted.
  • The original recording stays on your device and, if you use iCloud, in your private iCloud, until you delete it.

Recordings made on Apple Watch

A recording made with Nuvi on Apple Watch is saved on the watch and handed to your paired iPhone directly, using Apple's connection between the two devices. It does not pass through our servers on the way. Once your iPhone has the recording, it is removed from the watch, and the iPhone handles it like any other recording. Notes, summaries and to-dos shown on the watch are sent to it by your iPhone.

Transcripts, summaries and answers

The transcript, the summary, decisions and action items are produced on our servers and returned to your device. They are not kept on the server. For long recordings a short-lived job record is used while the work is in progress; it is removed when the job completes, and otherwise expires within a day.

When you use "Ask", your question and the relevant transcript text are sent to our servers to produce the answer, in the same way.

Voiceprints (speaker recognition)

To recognise a speaker Nuvi has heard before, a voiceprint (a numerical description of a voice) is computed while your audio is transcribed and returned to your device. Voiceprints are never stored on our servers. They are kept only on your device, are not synced to iCloud, and are excluded from device backups. You can remove them at any time in Settings > Voices ("Forget all voices").

A voiceprint can be considered biometric data in some places. If you save the voice of another person, you are responsible for having their permission where the law requires it.

What is stored on your device and in iCloud

Your notes, meetings, recordings, transcripts, summaries, to-dos and preferences are stored on your device. If you are signed in to iCloud, they are also stored in your private iCloud database (Apple CloudKit) so they can sync to your other devices. We cannot read your private iCloud database. Apple handles that data under its own privacy policy.

Widgets, the Lock Screen and Control Center

So that the widgets can show something, the app keeps a small copy of what they display (recent note titles, the latest summary, your open to-dos and your next calendar meeting) in a shared container on your device that only Nuvi and its widgets can read. It stays on the device. Remember that widgets on the Home Screen and Lock Screen can be seen by anyone who can see your screen.

Siri, Shortcuts and the Action button

Nuvi offers actions such as "Start or Stop Recording" to Siri, the Shortcuts app, the Action button and Control Center. They run on your device and start or stop a recording in the app. If you speak to Siri, Apple processes that request under its own privacy policy.

Profile details and custom vocabulary

You can choose to enter a role, a company and a kind of work. These are optional. If you enter them, they are sent with summary requests as context, and they are sent to our servers to prepare suggested vocabulary for you. To avoid preparing the same suggestions twice, the resulting word list is cached on the server under a one-way hash. The cache stores the suggested words, not the text you typed.

Words you add to your custom vocabulary are sent with a request as hints so names and jargon are spelled correctly. They are not kept on the server.

Usage counters and subscription status

We store, against your anonymous identifier, in Google Cloud Firestore: how many minutes you have used, request counts, and your subscription status and tier. This is needed to apply the limits of the free plan and of Nuvi Pro and to prevent abuse of the service.

Purchases

Subscriptions are bought through Apple. We never see your payment card. We use RevenueCat to check whether a subscription is active. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user identifier and your purchase history for Nuvi.

Usage statistics and diagnostics

  • Usage statistics. Anonymous usage statistics may be collected through TelemetryDeck, for example which screens and features are used. They contain no transcript text, note titles or names, use no advertising identifiers, and are not linked to your identity.
  • Diagnostics. Counts of crashes and hangs are collected through Apple's MetricKit. They are not linked to your identity.
  • App integrity. Firebase App Check may be used to confirm that requests come from a genuine copy of the app.

Microphone, calendar and notifications

  • Microphone. Used only while you record. Nuvi records only when you start a recording, in the app, on the watch, or through a widget, shortcut or control you chose to use. The "Just me" microphone mode uses Apple's voice processing on your device to reduce background noise; "Room" records everyone around the device.
  • Calendar (optional). If you allow it, upcoming events are read on your device to offer a reminder and to title a recording. Calendar events are not sent to our servers.
  • Notifications (optional). Used for meeting reminders and to tell you a transcript is ready.

What we do not do

  • No advertising and no ad tracking.
  • We do not sell your data or share it with data brokers.
  • We do not use your audio or transcripts to train AI models.

Service providers

These companies process data on our behalf so the app can work:

  • Google (Firebase and Google Cloud): anonymous sign-in, temporary audio storage in the EU, the backend functions, usage counters, App Check.
  • Cloudflare: carries the encrypted connection between our cloud backend and our AI servers, and the traffic of this website.
  • Apple: purchases, iCloud sync, crash diagnostics.
  • RevenueCat: subscription status.
  • TelemetryDeck: anonymous usage statistics.

Some of these providers, and our own AI servers, may process data in a country other than the one you live in.

How long data is kept

  • Uploaded audio: deleted when the transcript is returned; at most one day.
  • Transcription job records: removed on completion; otherwise expire within a day.
  • Usage counters, subscription status and the anonymous identifier: until you use "Delete all data".
  • Data on your devices and in your iCloud: until you delete it.

Deleting your data

  • Delete all data (in Settings) deletes the records our servers hold for you, the copy in your iCloud, and the data on your device. This cannot be undone. Your other devices remove their copies when they next sync, and your Apple Watch deletes its recordings, sent or not, when it next connects.
  • Deleting a single note or meeting removes it from your device and from iCloud.
  • Uninstalling the app removes the data stored on that device. It does not remove the iCloud copy or the server-side records; use "Delete all data" first if you want those removed.
  • Deleting your data does not cancel a subscription. Subscriptions are managed in your App Store account settings.
  • You can also email support@ege.md. Because there is no account, we may need the anonymous identifier from your app to find your records.

The steps are described on the Delete your data page.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EEA and UK, or the KVKK in Türkiye), you may have the right to:

  • ask what data we hold about you and receive a copy;
  • have data corrected or deleted;
  • object to or restrict certain processing;
  • withdraw a permission you gave, such as microphone or calendar access, in iOS Settings;
  • complain to the data protection authority where you live.

To use any of these rights, write to support@ege.md. We process your data to provide the service you asked for, to keep the service secure and within fair use, and, for usage statistics, to understand how the app is used and improve it.

Recording other people

A recording can contain the voices and words of other people. Depending on where you live, recording someone may require their consent. You are responsible for telling people and getting any consent that is needed before you record.

Children

Nuvi is not directed at children under 13 (under 16 in the European Economic Area), and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Security

Data is sent over encrypted connections. Server-side records are limited to what is described above. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep as little as we can so there is little to lose.

This website

The website nuvi.ege.md sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads nothing from third parties. As with any website, the server that hosts it and Cloudflare, which carries its traffic, process your IP address and the page you request in order to deliver the page and keep the service secure.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new date. If a change is significant, we will make it visible in the app or on this page.
