Notta and Nuvi overlap in one place: both turn a recorded conversation into a transcript and a summary. Around that, they are different products. Notta is a cross-platform meeting notetaker with online meeting capture, integrations and team plans. Nuvi, the AI note taker for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch by Ege Beşe, records what is said in the room and keeps the notes on your device, with no account. Get Nuvi.
Where Notta is better
Notta does a good deal that Nuvi does not attempt.
- Online meetings. Notta records and transcribes Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet and Webex meetings, per its pricing page. Notta Desktop records on Mac and Windows directly from the device, without a visible bot joining. Nuvi does not join or capture online meetings.
- Every major platform. Notta’s supported environments page lists a web app, a desktop app for Windows and macOS, and mobile apps on the App Store and Google Play. Nuvi has no Android, web, Mac or Windows app.
- Longer recordings and more minutes. Notta Pro lists 1,800 transcription minutes a month and up to 5 hours per recording. A Nuvi recording stops at one hour.
- Team workspace and integrations. The Business plan adds a collaborative workspace. The comparison table lists integrations including Notion, Slack, Zapier, Google Drive, Dropbox and CRMs such as Salesforce and HubSpot. Nuvi has none of these.
- Translation. Notta lists transcript translation on paid plans and says it supports 58 languages for transcription and translation. Nuvi does not translate.
- Optional hardware. Notta Memo is a separate recorder listed at $149 with 30 hours of continuous recording.
- Published certifications. Notta’s security page lists SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001. Nuvi is built by an individual developer and holds no compliance certifications.
Where Nuvi is different
Nuvi is narrower on purpose.
- No bot, no call capture. Nuvi records the room through the microphone of your iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch. Nothing joins a call. See AI note takers without a bot.
- No extra hardware. The Apple Watch records on the wrist and hands the file to the iPhone.
- No account, no email. The app signs in anonymously in the background with a random identifier.
- Remembered voices. The transcript separates speakers. Name a voice once and Nuvi recognizes it in later recordings, on the device.
- Summaries are not metered separately. Every transcribed recording gets an overview, key points, decisions and action items, on the free tier too. Action items land in a to-do list.
- Ask. Ask a question about one note, or across all notes with Nuvi Pro. Answers cite the note they came from.
- Models on servers the developer runs. Audio is not sent to a third-party AI service and is deleted as soon as the transcript has been returned.
- Notes stay with you. They live on the device and, if you use iCloud, in your own private iCloud.
- Price. Nuvi Pro is $49.99 a year in the US, against $97.99 a year for Notta Pro. See pricing.
Nuvi’s limits are real: transcription needs an internet connection, the interface is English only, and transcripts are AI output that can be wrong or attribute words to the wrong speaker.

Wherever you record other people, their consent may be required depending on where you are. Tell people before you record them.
How the two handle your audio
Notta. Notta’s security page says it hosts all its software on Amazon Web Services, and that data is encrypted in transit with TLS 1.2 and at rest with AES-256. Its privacy policy says information may be disclosed to service providers it relies on, including cloud storage and voice transcription. The pages read for this comparison do not name those transcription providers, and they do not give a general statement on whether recordings are used to train AI models, so this page makes no claim about either.
Nuvi. Audio is uploaded over an encrypted connection (TLS) to temporary cloud storage only so it can be transcribed. From there it goes to speech and language models that run on servers the developer operates. It is not sent to a third-party AI service. The uploaded audio is deleted as soon as the transcript has been returned. Transcripts and summaries are not stored on the server. Audio and transcripts are not used to train AI models.
One thing should be said plainly. Nuvi does not transcribe on the device, and neither does Notta: both need a connection to produce a transcript. A tool that transcribes on the device never uploads audio at all. More on the trade-offs is on the privacy-first page.
